Recently, I visited the luxury London hotel, Claridge’s, to sample food and wine for an upcoming corporate event. As expected, the food and wine was exceptional, the service faultless – but what made the biggest impression on me wasn’t on the plate.
It was happening behind the scenes, in the kitchen.
The team there worked with such ease, rhythm and mutual respect. Everyone had their space and their role, and they carried it out with precision. They weren’t competing, they were collaborating. No shouting, no ego, no panic. Just shared purpose and pride in their craft.
That visit reminded me how rare – and how vital – that kind of culture is in the workplace.
