September is a major point in the year when we tend to have a reset. A hangover from our school days, the end of summer marks a time for resetting goals, tackling things with new intentions and feeling recharged. The upheaval of summer is over (the school holidays plus summer holidays cause disruption at home and work), the seasons are starting to change and the end of the year is approaching.
It feels easier to reset at this time of year too. Although January sees us making New Year’s resolutions, the days are short, we can be a bit down after Christmas, and there’s less incentive to make things happen. And New Year’s resolutions are notoriously difficult to stick to. But in September, there’s still lots of daylight, we’re feeling rested after a break and incentivised to make things happen. So let’s embrace this window of motivation and make the most of it!
How to make your reset work for you
Ready to get your productivity back on track? Is it time to reset your fitness or activity goals? Perhaps you need to find some time to look after yourself. Whatever your main incentive to reset, having a targeted and mindful approach is more likely to help you stick to your new intentions. And your mindset is important too. Prepare your mind to focus, ready yourself for change and you can start to shift habits.
