What is VUCA and What Does it Mean for You?
VUCA was an acronym first coined by the United States Army War College to describe conditions resulting from the collapse of the USSR in the early 1990s. It is a set of a combined qualities, which when considered together, are typical of some difficult conditions and situations. VUCA has more recently been applied to businesses across all sectors to help guide leadership and strategy. But when you break down the individual elements, and then look at them again as a whole, you can see how we are currently existing in a VUCA state.
VUCA means Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
VUCA can be applied to almost all events, no matter how big or small. The way we each manage them is unique and no one way is right or wrong. It can be extremely difficult to navigate these times by yourself.
