Reflecting and reviewing can be initially off putting, particularly if you are someone who focuses on what didn’t go well. Talking to an impartial, non-judgemental third party, such as a coach, can help you order your thoughts, see things with a fresh pair of eyes, and let you plan forward. I won’t tell you what you should be doing, or where you went wrong, but will listen and ask questions to enable you to find your own way through. Talking to a coach is also an excellent way to get some accountability – schedule a quarterly call and you’ll aways have something to aim for.
Remember that reviewing on what’s already happened isn’t solely about looking at what went wrong. It’s about celebrating your achievements. Talking to a coach will let you see that you can allow yourself the time and space to do this, rather than just moving on to tick the next thing off your list. We tend to not share our victories but hide them away. It’s good to share positive feedback – though there is a fine line between celebrating and boasting, so beware!
Let me know if you would like some direction for setting this year’s goals, or someone to listen while you reflect on last year. I’d be delighted to help you get a structure in place so you achieve everything you hope to. And let’s set some accountability markers too, so you know how to keep things on track. Why You Should Wait Before Launching into the New Year
Welcome to the New Year! It’s always tempting to rush into a new year with fresh intentions, resolutions and grand plans. Before you do that though, it’s important to take time to reflect on all that happened last year, both achievements and challenges. Why? Because we rarely stop and reflect, always pushing onwards and not learning from what went on previously.
